GRACIE FUNDAMENTALS
You must learn to walk before you can run. Our fundamentals program ensures you build a strong foundation around the principles of leverage and efficient movement that are the building blocks of Gracie Jiu Jitsu. The techniques you learn in this class will stick with you throughout your BJJ journey.
At Gracie Raleigh, our 4–6 age group focuses on the “ABCs” of childhood development: Attention, Balance, and Coordination. We understand that young children learn best through structured play. Our instructors use high-energy, structured games to teach essential martial arts movements, spatial awareness, and, most importantly, the ability to listen and follow directions.
This program builds a “yes, I can” attitude, helping your child develop focus and respect in a safe, fun, and non-intimidating environment. It’s the perfect way to burn off energy while learning the core values that will serve them well when they enter the classroom.
As children grow, their challenges change. Our 7–12 Youth program is designed to meet them at this critical developmental stage. We transition from play-based learning to technical precision and situational problem-solving. This is where your child learns “physical chess”—using their mind to solve problems when facing resistance from a partner.
This program provides a powerful framework for handling real-world issues, including bullying, peer pressure, and self-doubt. By training in a sport that rewards persistence and effort, your child learns that they are capable of overcoming any obstacle. They aren’t just learning self-defense; they are developing the resilience and discipline required to succeed in school and into their teenage years.
The Gracie Raleigh Teen Jiu-Jitsu program is designed for students ages 13–15 who are ready for more responsibility, challenge, and personal growth. As kids enter their teenage years, they benefit from structured activities that build confidence, discipline, and resilience. Our program provides a positive outlet where teens can develop real skills while learning how to handle pressure, setbacks, and success in a healthy way.
Teen students train in a blended format, participating in both our Kids classes and Adult Fundamentals classes. This structure allows them to continue learning in a supportive environment while gradually adjusting to the pace, expectations, and training style of adult Jiu-Jitsu.
