Are you ready to trade the boring gym routine for a workout that actually teaches you a skill?

At Gracie Raleigh, our Muay Thai and kickboxing program delivers a high-energy, full-body workout rooted in authentic striking. Known as the “Art of Eight Limbs,” Muay Thai teaches you to use punches, kicks, elbows, and knees with absolute precision.

Whether you are looking to get into the best shape of your life, relieve stress, or learn practical self-defense, our world-class coaches will guide you every step of the way.

Why Train Muay Thai at Gracie Raleigh

  • Authentic Technique, No Fluff: This is not a “cardio kickboxing” class set to dance music. You will learn genuine martial arts, proper stance, heavy bag work, and pad-holding drills from real competitors.

  • Unrivaled Full-Body Conditioning: A single intense session can burn up to 800 calories. You will build core stability, functional strength, and cardiovascular endurance that treadmill runs can’t touch.

  • Practical Self-Defense: Workouts are structured around real-world application. You will gain the confidence, mental toughness, and physical skills to protect yourself and your loved ones.

  • An Unbeatable Community: Our Raleigh facility is home to a welcoming, supportive group of students. We leave our egos at the door and help each other get better every single class.

What to Expect in Your First Class

If you’ve never hit a bag or worn boxing gloves, don’t sweat it. Over 90% of our members started as absolute beginners. Our classes are dynamic and adapt to the students on the mat, but every session is built around a few core elements:

  • Foundation & Movement: Every class starts with proper preparation. Coaches will guide you through functional movements, proper stance, footwork, and the fundamentals of how to strike and move safely.

  • Technical Instruction: You won’t just be told to hit a bag. Our world-class coaches break down real striking combinations—showing you exactly how to throw punches, kicks, knees, and elbows with proper mechanics.

  • Dynamic Drilling: You will put those techniques into practice using a variety of heavy bag work, focus mitts, or Thai pad drills. This gives you a high-energy, functional workout while building real-world timing and accuracy.

  • A Welcoming Environment: Classes wrap up with a chance to cool down, ask the coaches questions, and get guidance on gear or schedules. There is zero pressure—you go entirely at your own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be in shape before I start?

Absolutely not. Muay Thai is the tool you use to get in shape. Go at your own pace; our coaches are experts at scaling workouts to match your current fitness level

Is there sparring in every class?

No. Sparring is strictly optional and reserved for advanced students who have demonstrated technical control and have been to at least 25 classes. Beginner classes focus entirely on bag work, pad work, and controlled partner drills.

Can I train both BJJ and Muay Thai?

Yes! Grappling and striking complement each other perfectly. Many of our members cross-train in both our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program and our Muay Thai classes for a complete martial arts education.
