Even More Jiu Jitsu Myth Busting

I’m Too Old To Train In Jiu Jitsu

Nonsense! You’re never too old to learn and experience new things. You might not know this, but Helio Gracie, the founder of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, was still training at age 95. So if you want to teach an old dog new tricks, head on down to Gracie. We’re one of the top martial arts schools in Raleigh, and the Triangle area.

Jiu Jitsu Neutralizes Size and Strength

When all things are equal, size and strength will win out. There will always be someone out there that is bigger and badder than you are. This does not mean that BJJ isn’t a good self defense tool against larger untrained attackers, because it is. However, if you’re in competition or rolling with a bigger and equally skilled opponent, then you’ll have your work cut out for you.

Technique can carry you a long ways, but is not always the end-all to winning a match. The good news is that you can always get stronger. Strength training, combined with your martial arts training makes for a great combination.
