Staying Fit During the Holidays

karate classes in raleighThousands of people will be traveling during Christmas and New Year’s Eve to be with friends and family. If you’re going to be one of these brave individuals flying the friendly skies or hitting the roadways this holiday season, be sure to take steps to keep your healthy lifestyle at the forefront.

Keeping your healthy routines might seem impossible over the next two months, but it can be done. To be successful you have to prepare for the inevitable, and that’s less time to train, stress, alcohol, and avoid overeating all of that delicious holiday food.

That leads us to today’s post. We’re going to discuss a couple of tips that you can use over the next few weeks to keep those extra pounds off and stay in the shape that you’ve worked so hard for. Searching for karate classes in Raleigh NC? Why not try something new in 2016, like BJJ, MMA, or muay thai.

How to Stay Fit during the Holidays!

Be Mindful of How Much You’re Eating – Over the holidays, you really have to be mindful of not only how much you’re eating, but what you’re eating as well. Overeating at Christmas can be a real problem for some, especially if you have a sweet tooth (like me). There is just so much good food that is not around all year long, so you have to be mentally strong about what you’re putting in your mouth, and how often you’re eating. If you can, try to eat small portions and be sure to get in your lean proteins, fruits and veggies.

Check Out Your Local Martial Arts Gym – So what if you’re out of town for the holidays? You can still attempt to get some training in. All it takes is some research, planning, and motivation. Martial arts is popular all over the world and with the right attitude and approach you should have no trouble finding a gym to drop in to. Here’s a great idea, before you leave on your trip ask your coaches if they have some connections they can hook you up with. You never know until you ask and it might just work out for you.

Training While You Travel Is Possible – You also have to come to grips with the fact that you might not be able to train like you’re used to, especially if you’re traveling out of town, state, or the country. However, you can still get your workouts in. You’re probably not going to get a chance to roll with a black belt, but you can still practice your forms and do many home exercises that are perfect for people on the go. Regardless of if you’re staying with your grandparents, a friend’s apartment, or spending a few days in a hotel, you can still go for a run, do push-ups, squats, sit-ups and crunches just to name a few.

We hope that these tips will help you stay in peak physical condition over the holidays! Just do some planning and everything should work out!
