Fun Games and Class Ideas for Kids
Chicken and Snakes
Chicken and Snakes is a fun game that kids love to play in BJJ. It works best if you divide the kids up into a few different groups. Furthermore, inside each group have some kids be chickens and some kids be snakes. Don’t worry, they’re going to rotate back and forth while the game is being played. The chickens remain standing while the snakes get down on their hands and knees. The objective is for the snakes to take down the chickens. Once a chicken has been taken down, they become snakes. Keep playing until every chicken has become a snake.
Dragon Tail
This is another fun game that kids love to play. Basically, all you need are a few flags, belt pieces, or bandannas. Each kid tucks a bandanna into the back of their belt, so it resembles a dragon’s tail. Then you pair the kids up. The objective of the game is to take your opponent’s tail before they can take yours.
Crab Walk Wars
There are a lot of different variations of this one, but kids seem to love it. Basically it involves getting a group of kids down on the ground in the crab walk position. Then you let them loose. The objective is the be the last one crab walking. Participants try to pull the other players’ arms or legs out to make their opponent’s body touch the ground. If anything besides a hand or foot hits the floor, that person is out. The last one remaining wins.
