Healthy Resolutions for 2017

Quit Smoking

If you’re a smoker, do your best to stop. If you’re going to quit, embrace it and do not be scared of living life unchained from cigarettes. With today’s advances in technology, quitting is easier than ever. Using electronic cigarettes can even help more than you might think. I’ve seen several friends of mine switch from tobacco cigarettes to vaping, to nothing at all over the scope of a few weeks. If they can do it, so can you!

If you don’t think you can quit cold turkey, start by cutting back. Try to find the areas where you can easily omit that extra smoke. Figure out your triggers and what causes you to want to smoke. If you smoke mainly when you drive from A to B, keep some coffee straws or chewing gum handy to ease the desires.

Strength and Cardio Training

If you’re into BJJ, or any martial arts training, commit yourself to increasing your strength and cardio workouts. If you just want to get healthy in the new year, here’s a great place to start. Getting stronger and increasing your stamina will be great for your overall health and well being. For martial arts, consistent training like this can take you to levels you have only dreamed of hitting.

Lose Weight

This one might seem impossible for some, or like the resolution that always fails. However, it’s possible to lose weight next year. All you have to do is set obtainable goals and commit yourself. Here’s a good example. Instead of trying to lose 20 pounds as your total goal, break it up into smaller goals. Make your goal to lose 1 – 2 pounds a week for 2 months. That way anything over that will seem like an amazing accomplishment.
